Working Principle

The CO2 laser emits infrared light at 10,600 nm, which is strongly absorbed by intracellular and extracellular water in biological tissues. This absorption results in rapid volumetric heating and vaporization of tissue, enabling precise ablation with limited thermal diffusion to surrounding structures.

In fractional mode, the laser creates a controlled array of microscopic treatment zones (MTZs), leaving intact tissue bridges between ablated columns to accelerate healing and collagen remodeling.
